So, this past Saturday and Sunday I was one of the comic guests at Tampa Comic Con. They had Chandler Riggs as a celebrity guests (Carl from Walking Dead). This garnered them a monstrous turn out. I would guess between 2500 - 3500 people. Tampa Comic Con isn't a very large convention, they hold their cons in the Double Tree Hotel in South Tampa and I would guess after this year, it may be time to find a new venue that is more accommodating to that size of a crowd.
My company, Con Artist Entertainment was there in full force as we had tons of swag for sale. But the big event for us, was that we debuted "Joshua Black" number 1. My new comic that I've been working on for quite some time. Most times, a new comic is released at these cons and they do okay. I was not prepared at all for the love "Joshua Black" received. We sold out of almost every single copy. I have back orders now, and have to make a re-print order. This is obviously a good problem to have, but is a surreal and awesome time for me as a writer/creator.
I also sold out of many of my prints and had some people order some commission work as well. It was possibly one of the best conventions we have done this year and it was one of the smallest. Just an awesome time.
Next up for us is GeekFest in South Florida on the 18th and then our break until January.

Are you only interested in doing cons in the south west united states? Some of our midwest ones could use some new blood. I've been going since I was a kid and it's the same guys throughout. They're talented artists, sure, but it's kinda stagnant.

We plan to expand and hit the midwest and even try to get out to San Diego. As of now, South East is just easier on the wallet. I was just talking to our guys about doing Wizard World in Chicago.

That'd be perfect. Wizard World Chicago is about as far as I care to go from home and I always have a blast there.

Cash under the table so it doesn't adversely effect his welfare check.
